December has always been one of my favorite months. Of course, it’s the holiday season, but I also enjoy making goals and planning for the new year. I love setting reading challenge goals for myself, and I try to encourage my children to do the same, with various degrees of success.
For the past seven years, we have been creating Build Your Library Reading Challenges. It’s a fun activity that my oldest daughter and I collaborate on. We love to brainstorm fun reading challenges that everyone in the family can do.
I still have three prompts left for this year’s Reading Banned Books challenge, but I plan to finish it up before the month is over. It has been a great year of reading!
But now, it’s time to unveil the 2026 Reading Challenge….drumroll please!
In 2026, we are having a very hygge and cozy year of reading!

I can’t wait to dig into this year’s reading prompts! This year’s challenge encourages you to find your sense of whimsy and read books that make you feel happy and cozy. 2025 was a difficult year for many of us, so I wanted to start 2026 with a reading challenge to help me rediscover my love of reading!
I’m looking forward to a great year of reading, and I hope you will join me on our reading adventure!
