It’s my favorite time of year! Not just because of the holiday season, but also because I love planning and making goals for the new year. I set multiple reading goals for myself, and I encourage my children to do the same.
Last year, I created the 2019 Build Your Library Family Reading Challenge, and I have had a blast completing the challenges with all of you all year. We have a Goodreads Group where we can talk about what we’re reading and get ideas for books to fit each of the prompts. I purposely made the list family friendly, so everyone could participate.
I’m just a handful of prompts shy of finishing my 2019 challenge, but I’ve already been hard at work creating the 2020 Build Your Library Reading Challenge to give you a heads up with what is in store!
I am very excited about this year’s challenge. We’re going to be reading our way around the world! I created 40 prompts to guide you in adding diversity to your reading choices in 2020. From reading books that take place in specific parts of the world, to reading #ownvoices stories, mythology and folklore, and even books that take place at sea and in space, you will be traveling the world from the comfort of your home!
I’m looking forward to a great year of reading and I hope you will all join me in this reading expedition!
Below are the links to the PDF checklists, one in color and one in black & white for easy printing.
This looks like such a great idea, and I look forward to doing it with my four kids! On behalf of my 12-year-old daughter, who likes to keep records of absolutely everything, I was wondering if you could make another version of this list with a line under each challenge, so that she can write in the title of the book that she finds for each goal. It would save me from having to re-type the whole thing. Thanks for the inspiration!
I copied the list and included lines for adding titles, authors, date read, or anything else you want to record. You can view and print it from the included link. I have four daughters ages 9 to 15 who all want to do this, so I also left in check boxes for the younger ones. Thanks again for such a great plan!
