Purchase: Level 7 curriculum

Level 7
( Grade 7 – Age 12-14 )

Get ready for an exciting voyage around the world! This year your child will travel to all seven continents and learn about the land and cultures of the world. While studying Grade 7: Exploring Your World, your child will meet families from around the globe and get a fascinating look at how they live and what they eat; you’ll explore various landscapes, from the tropical rainforests of Brazil and Papua New Guinea to the Sahara Desert and the frozen wasteland of Antarctica and you’ll complete a variety of projects, from creating different types of maps to creating international works of art. This year is packed full of great books and open ended projects!

The literature this year takes you to many destinations, from a road trip across the United States with Salamanca and her grandparents in Walk Two Moons, across the Pacific Ocean in an ancient balsa raft in Kon-Tiki: Across the Pacific in a Raft, and to distant galaxies far beyond our own in the The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

You’ll also study the religions of the world and learn about the variety of belief systems, from the more common (Christianity and Islam) to the less known native religions, and even ancient beliefs. You will also study a variety of myths about the origins of the world in In the Beginning: Creation Stories from Around the World.

Your science focus this year is Chemistry, using Elemental Science’s Chemistry for the Logic Stage program.

This hands on, literature based study will guide you on an unforgettable journey around the world, right from the comforts of your home. I hope you enjoy studying it as much as I enjoyed putting it together!

Customer Testimonials:

We are just wrapping up BYL7 with my son. He was a reluctant reader in the past. A few weeks ago he told me that this was the best homeschool year he has ever had (out of 7). He said he has learned SO much this year, and it has opened his eyes to the world. By the second half he was eagerly devouring the books, and asking for more. This was such an amazing year for me and if i ever met Emily i am not sure if i would cry or hug her but i would thank her a million times. I hope that your childs 7th grade is as wonderful as ours was. 💙 ~ Katrina S., Build Your Library Families Facebook group 6/12/2017

One Response to Purchase: Level 7 curriculum

  1. Organic Jen says:

My child who used to enjoy reading had become quite reading phobic. He actually would frequently state that he hated reading and reading was torture. Because of that, I decided that although I love reading and love the idea of a literature based curriculum, a curriculum like Build Your Library would be the exact opposite of what my child would need since reading was his least favorite thing in the world to do. However, for some reason I went ahead and bought the year 7 Build Your Library and just decided to try it. I am not exaggerating one bit when I say that every single day we do Build Your Library he makes at least one comment about how interesting something he read was, or how well written something was, or just how much he is loving this year of school. He constantly says that this year (our first Build Your Library year) has been the best school year ever. He talks about how much he loves the books all the time and he says that he loves the way all the different readings go together and stay on the same topic, or in our case, geographic area. It has blown me away to see how my child went from saying how much he hated reading to now saying that this year, during which he is constantly reading, is his favorite school year ever. He has demanded that I buy the year 8 Build Your Library so that we can start looking for the books from thrift shops now even though we are months and months away from starting year 8. I’m so appreciative and glad that we found Build Your Library and that I decided to give a literature and real book based curriculum a try with a child who said he hated books. It truly seems to have transformed his entire view of reading and books and he went from hating reading to thoroughly enjoying it every day. I have also noticed that because of the topics in the various readings being tied together, his retention and understanding of the material are far better than I’ve ever seen with any other curriculum. We are both excited for school every day now and my only regret is not trying it sooner.
