Summer Read-a-thon Week 9 Activites

August 7, 2013

This week’s theme is Science and Math – there are so many fun ways to “play” with these academic topics!

One of our favorite sources for science experiments is Steve Spangler Science. There are TONS of videos of experiments divided up by topic. Studying magnetism? Watch the video about magnetic money. Weather? make s’mores in a solar oven. The videos are great and the materials are nearly always things you already have around the house.

The weather here has be gorgeous lately, so it’s the perfect time to go on a Nature Scavenger Hunt!  Here’s a fun freebie for you: Download Your Nature Scavenger Hunt Activity Page Here

Need a fun way to reinforce math skills over the summer months? My kids LOVE this website – it’s free and they’re having so much fun “playing” on the computer they don’t even realize they’re also doing math!

Don’t forget, we’re having an amazing sale on all full year programs August 11 – 16th just in time for the new school year! Spread the word!

Have fun and happy reading!
